In Tate Britain, Linbury Galleries, is a Henry Moore exhibition from 24 February till 8 August 2010. Supported by The Henry Moore Foundation Sponsored by British Land Company PLC, Finsbury and Goldman Sachs With additional support from Tate Patrons and The Henry Moore Exhibition Supporters Group. Radical, experimental and avant garde, Henry Moore (1898-1986) was one of Britain’s greatest artists. This major exhibition will re-assert his position at the forefront of progressive twentieth-century sculpture, bringing together the most comprehensive selection of his works for a generation. Henry Moore will present over 150 significant works including stone sculptures, wood carvings, bronzes and drawings.

Henry Moore will reveal the range and quality of Moore’s art in new ways – sometimes uncovering a dark and erotically charged dimension that challenges the familiar image of the artist and his work. Henry Moore first emerged as an artist in the wake of the First World War, in which he served on the Western Front. This exhibition will emphasise the impact on Moore’s work of its historical and intellectual contexts: the trauma of war, the advent of psychoanalysis and new ideas of sexuality, and the influence of primitive art and surrealism.

The exhibition will explore the defining subjects of Moore’s work, including the reclining figure, the iconic mother and child, abstract compositions and seminal drawings of London during the Blitz.
The Henry Moore Foundation is the UK’s largest artist foundation, running a visitor programme at the artist’s former home in Hertfordshire, an exhibition and research programme at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, and staging Moore exhibitions all over the world. It awarded over £1.5 million in grants in 2008-9. Visit www.henry-moore.org.

Tate Britain, Linbury Galleries
Open daily 10.00 – 17.50, and until 22.00 on the first Friday of every month for Late at Tate
For tickets visit www.tate.org.uk/tickets or call 020 7887 8888

All years round truffles can be found in Istria, but the season of the hottest and most exclusive white truffle starts now. The white truffle is the most expensive truffle and can cost € 1500 per kilo. But the cheaper black species are found in Istria. Once the truffles were exported mainly to Italy, nowadays 70% of the find were bought by Croatian restaurants. The vegetarians in this region has also expanded enormously. The truffle is also an important “weapon” in the struggle to get guests from the coastregion. The season thus immediately becomes an attractive holiday. The key word here is small. Agro tourism, family hotels in Old Istrian (land) that houses are homes that flourish in the truffle season. Besides enjoying the truffles in many restaurants there are also truffle festivals to attend. Ingredients of these festivals are usually a fair truffle, truffle competitions (who has the biggest and the best), baking the world’s largest truffelpie or demonstrations of truffle searching with dogs. www.istra.hr

A British design company says it is working on plans for new sideways, staggered seating on airplanes as a cost-cutting option for airlines to maximize the number of passengers on board. (…) The design theoretically would save money for the airlines because it would allow planes to hold more passengers, and the demand for such concepts could take off, with Irish budget airline Ryanair’s chief executive, Michael O’Leary, saying previously he is open to trying new seating designs. O’Leary already has thrown his support behind another idea, vertical seating, for Ryanair’s Boeing 737s flying on short trips. Passengers essentially would travel in a secure upright, or standing, position.
